All ears

One of mom’s friends came over while she’s not home. The timing wasn’t good, just woke up, barely opened my eyes.

Guest is guest.

You know, when we are getting older, our friends are away or they are caught up by the household or we feel like have no one. Meanwhile, our life goes unwell, practically we need ears to listen.

And that was what she wanted. Want or not I volunteered to be her two ears.

I learned from mom. From an effort to understand her. She got no friends, well she has friends but not a friend “friend”. She can’t mobilize by herself. All she gets to do is chores. How could she stand to be a full-time mother.

Found out later that she wants someone to talk to, to laugh with, just like youngsters. Talk about movies she watched on Netflix. About her rebellious children. About her ‘usual’ days. Bad-mouthing relatives. Or complaining about her husband. Sometimes it’s as fun as talking to friends. Sometimes I can’t relate at all. Sometimes I’m sick of the same old story. I’m all ears.

Like what I do to mom. Although I can’t relate, keep listen to her won’t make my ears bleed. They might make family, have children, they are lonely tho.

Ada waktu di mana kita ingin mengeluh bukan karena kita tidak bersyukur. Because we have so much on our chest. And we need to let it out.
